Frequently Asked Questions

What is naturopathic medicine?
Naturopathical medicine focuses on working
with the body’s innate ability to heal itself by
addressing the underlying causes of discomfort
or disease. Naturopathic Doctors use a
number of therapies, including nutrition,
herbal and botanical medicine, homeopathy,
and lifestyle management.

Did You Go to Medical School?
Yes! Naturopathic Doctors must attend an
accredited four-year post-graduate
naturopathic medical school that includes
clinical practice and board certification. The
same biomedical coursework as conventional
medical school is studied for the first two
years. During the second two years, the focus is on
the specific modalities of natural medicine.

What Are the Appointments Like?
For adults, Aan initial consult takes about two
hours. My goal is to listen and obtain a
complete health history, and to assess how
day-to- day life is impacting the body. By the
end of the appointment patients leave with a
treatment plan. Follow up appointments are
typically 4-6 weeks after the first appointment.

Can You Help Me If I Don’t Have a
Diagnosis?

Yes! This is exactly why natural medicine is so
helpful. Naturopathic Doctors look for ways
that the body is dis-eased, or not at ease. The
reason for such an extensive medical history is

to understand the various ways the
body is out of balance. We look at the
symptoms, but also the myriad ways the body
interacts, from food sensitivities and digestive
health to lifestyle.
